I am a dark 7B pencil. Unlike the most common used number 2 pencils that are frequently used for tests and writing in High school English classes or Math classes I live amongst artists and their arts. I don’t know much about grammar structures, numbers or the alphabet so I cannot perceive my world through writings and formulas, rather i see pictures, color and gradations. My owner uses me for sketching dark mysterious pictures or simply dark shadowing. I am most frequently used particularly because my owner likes to draw objects darker than they appear. I don’t come with an eraser like the number 2 pencils and I have no competition with pens because no pen can replace the magnificent touch that i give to a sketch pad.
My owner likes to take me out every after and use me to sketch nature and people. Although a nature lover, my owner likes to sketch people rather than the nature that he sees. As a pencil my definition may be 7B but it can be changed by the pressure that my owner presses onto the pad. Therefore some of his sketches don’t even require other pencils.
My owner takes a very good care of all his pencils. To him we are not just merely pencils but a way of living, its his lifestyle and without us his art may be in danger. A true artist knows how to appreciate the materials he is fortunate to work with. My owner personally sharpens every pencil including me with a knife rather than shoving it into a sharpener to preserve and carefully handle the lead. We are also kept in cases so we are not dropped and our leads don’t break inside. It hasn’t even been a year since I’ve united with my owner but i believe we are going to have a great future ahead of us and I must include that I am most proud to be a 7B pencil.
